S. S. #21 - Thirteenth Line
The Thirteenth Line school was built of logs in 1868, on the SW corner of lot 7, concession 13, western section. It was also known as Hackett’s School. It had a large attendance, of sometimes as many as 60 students. The school held 8 long benches which could accommodate 7 or 8 students each. There was also a large box stove, a desk and chair for the teacher and a blackboard. Miss Harriet Harris was the first teacher.
This building torn down in 1878 and a frame school house was built in a more central location on lot 4 concession 13. This school served until 1910 when the present red brick school was built. This school was closed in 1946 when there as there was only one pupil. By 1951 classed resumed with attendance of 13 students.
It is now used as a Maple Grove Parochial School.
