Linwood News Clippings
1868 - 1952

Linwood author, Julie Schnurr has kindly donated digital copies of research gathered when writing her 2002 book "More Than A Pool in the Woods - Linwood Past and Present." These files are a treasure trove of over 1300 newspaper articles about Linwood from the Waterloo Chronicle and its predecessors:

Waterloo County Chronicle - 1860 - April 6, 1899
Waterloo County Chronicle and Weekly Telegraph - April 13-1899 - June 1, 1899
The Chronicle Telegraph - June 8, 1899 - July 13, 1922
Waterloo Chronicle - July 22, 1922 - present

There does not seem to have been a Linwood correspondent sending news to the Chronicle in 1937. The file from 1944 to 1952 is not a complete set of articles.

There are also a few articles from The Globe / The Globe and Mail, from 1872 to the early 1900s.

The articles in this collection were printed from microfilm and then scanned so some of the early articles vary in quality, the rest are easily read. The articles are fully searchable PDFs but, as with all
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software programs, the results are only as good as the original. Search results will vary.
