Jessie Harkness Collection

Jessie Margaret Harkness was born in Grey County on September 6, 1895. She was the daughter of Thomas Harkness and Elisabeth Thomson, who was the sister to the artist Tom Thomson. Jessie taught at S. S. #17, Crosshill from 1914 to 1916.  In 1922 she married Frederick Elbridge Fisk.

During her time in Crosshill she was known as a wonderful teacher who was fond of her students. She used her camera to record school activities, the school building - both inside and out - and took many photographs of the families with whom she boarded.

We are fortunate to have 17 album pages containing about 75 of her photos donated in 1989 .
