R.C.S.S. #12 - Macton

The northwest school section of the township was originally divided into two sections #21 and #18 which were later relocated.

When the Roman Catholics separated from S. S. #18 in 1866 they built a log school house close to the northern boundary of the township, just south of Macton.

In 1892 The Roman Catholic School Trustees of S. S. #12 purchased a half acre lot at the southern edge of lot 9 concession 14, Wellesley from William Newton.  The original log school was replaced by a larger brick building.

In 1959 a new brick school was built to replace the one used since 1892.

In 1966 R.C. S. S. #12 combined with R. C. S. S. #5 and R. C. S. S. #11 to form the Union of the Combined Roman Catholic Separate Schools of Wellesley Township, made up of about 12 students.  In 1967 the trustees voted to close the school and Macton students were bused to St. Clements.

In September 1968 the school became a private residence.
