An interesting event took place in the R. C. church, St. Clements on Tuesday, October 22nd, when Mrs. A. Matell was joined in wedlock to Mr. John S. Meyer. Rev. M. S. Holm [?] performed the ceremony, after which the party adjourned to the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Forwell, where a tasty wedding breakfast was partaken of. The happy couple afterwards left for Buffalo and other points across the line, where they will spend their honeymoon. A quiet wedding was solemnized at Linwood Methodist Church at 9 o’clock on Wednesday morning, Aug. 7th when Mr. Charles H. Landenbeck [sic]of the town of George, Iowa, and Miss Austina [sic] Sioux Maxwell of Kanaranza, Minn., were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, the impressive ceremony being performed by Rev. H. Monsinger. The bride, always charming, looked radiantly so in her becoming and elegant attire of Lorraine Isatler [?], wearing the traditional veil and wreath of blossoms. Only the immediate friends and relatives were present, among whom were the bride’s sister, Mrs. Dr. Hackett, of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Campbell of Crosshill, Mr. and Mrs. Hackett, Dr. and Mrs. Manser, Mr. and Mrs. T. Hackett. Amidst showers of rice, and the gracious smiles of “Old Sol” beaming his best wishes upon them, the happy couple left for Berlin, where they boarded the train en route to Toronto and Niagara, also taking in the Pan American, after which they will return to their home at Sheldon, Iowa. The marriage of Miss Aggie, daughter of Mr. John Mertz, to Mr. Charles Wolf, engineer of Reiner Bros. & Co.’s, occurred on Sunday evening last at the parsonage, in Philipsburg, Rev. Mr. Langholz officiating. After the ceremony the young couple returned to the homo of the bride’s parents here where a company of invited friends had gathered and a pleasant time was spent. On Tuesday, Sept 23th, St. Agatha church was the scene of one of the prettiest, weddings of the season. The contracting parties were Mr. J. Dietner, and Miss Christina Meyer. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Hubert. The bride’s costume was pearl grey poplinette, trimmed with white duchess satin and Battenburg lace. She wore a bridal veil wreathed with orange blossoms and carried a beautiful white prayer book and a pearl rosary. Miss Otillia Dietner and Miss Olivia Kaiser, performed the duties of bridesmaids, while the groom was supported by Mr. John Wagner, and Mr. Alphonse Dietner. After the ceremony the wedding party and guests repaired to the home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Kaiser, where a sumptuous wedding dinner awaited them. In the afternoon, they drove to the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. Ignatz Dietner, where the evening was spent. Mrs. And Mrs. Dietner will make their future home on a farm near our village. Both ypung people were well and favorably known in St. Agatha, particularly the bride, whose cheery presence never failed to charm all with whom she came in contact, and their many friends wish them many other blessings, as well as health, wealth and prosperity.
