Notes:
- 1935 - following marriage, moved from the home farm to St Clements
- 1941 - when his father died, returned to the farm
- 1967 - warden during the Canadian centennial celebrations; sold farm for health reasons and moved to St Clements. While on county council served 6 years on the roads committee, including 2 years as chairman and attended conventions of the Good Roads Association in Halifax, Winnipeg, and Vancouver
- 1973 - retired from political life and moved to Kitchener. He was a guest speaker at the 150th anniversary celebrations for Wellesley Township in Feb 1982. He mentioned the advancements since regionalization which included the township shed and centrally located offices, and the new library and firehall in St Clements. He also praised the 3 volunteer fire brigades which he called the best trained and equipped in Waterloo Region He noted that when he was reeve, the budget discussions always revealed there was no money for washrooms in the township hall.
- The gavel from his year as warden and other memorabilia are housed in the Regional Building on Frederick Street, Kitchener.
