Light and Power Commission Minutes, 1917 - 1965

The Light and Power Commission was created by a Wellesley Township By-law on November 30, 1916 as follows:

"Where as it is desirable and expedient to create a commission of three members to be called the Wellesley Light and Power commission of the Police Village of Wellesley to conduct the affairs pertaining to light and power within the Police Village of Wellesley, be it therefore resolved the following question be submitted to electors of the Police Village of Wellesley on 30 November 1916 from 8 to to 10:00 PM: 

Question: are you in favour of creating the Wellesley light and power commission?"

The results of the poll was positive and the election for two trustees was held in the opera house on January 5, 1917. Henry Hostetler received 71 votes
Charles D. Koehler received 75 votes
Peter A. Wagner received 83 votes

The commissioners for 1917 were Charles D. Koehler, to serve a two year term as chairman, Peter A. Wagner to serve a 1 year term. N. S. Fleischauer, a trustee of the Police Village was appointed secretary and inspecting trustee of the board.
