- "through the efforts of himself and family the church at Linwood was largely sustained. Mr Boomer was one of the oldest members, being looked upon as the father of the church here, and he was widely known all over the western peninsula, having attended several sessions of the Hamilton Conference as delegate from the Linwood circuit" (obit)
- According to the Linwood Tweedsmuir, Boomer was a business man of the village who named streets after members of his family: e.g. Alfred and Adelaide
- The original Boomer family home was outside the village of St Clements. "The Boomers were English, and the home was designed in the manor style, with five bedrooms and a library. Mr Boomer was Justice of the Peace, often holding court at his house" (Maple Leaf Journal)
