Annie Koehler & Jonathan Lichty

This portrait of Annie Koehler and Jonathan Lichty was likely taken around the time of their marriage in 1903.
Annie Koehler was the great aunt of our donor, Mrs. Ruth Gerth. Many thanks to her for donating this and other Koehler related items to our collection!

Forwell Family History

We are happy to have this addition to our family history collection. Many thanks to El-Jay Hansson of California who sent us a copy of her work. Almost 300 pages long, it is filled with charts, photos and reminiscences of family members of both sides of the Atlantic. Of particular note for local researchers are the names Forwell, Schmuck and Koebel.

Unidentified Couple

This lovely photograph (15.5" x 20") was dropped off at the Historical Room with no information about the photograph or donor. Can you help us find this information? If so, please contact us!

In January 2012, Toby Frey donated a large collection of documents related to the history of Hawkesviile, most of which dealt with school matters. The files and documents had belonged to his father, a long-time school trustee.

The collection consists of Daily Attendance Registers dating to 1905, 1910, 1912, 1913, 1915-1944.

Also notable is a hand written ledger of school board minutes dating from 1886-1964.

In January 2011, Emiline Runstetler donated the 1857 Crown Deed and other ownership documents relating to the Brenner Farm. The documents has remained at the farm despite several changes in ownership.

We are very proud of this deed as it is one of our oldest artifacts.

Hawkesville Map, 1862

In October 2010, we were proud to accept a donation from John and Mary Ottman in memory of his parents, Irene and Earl Ottman, a hand-drawn map of Hawkesville dating to 1862.

The map was drawn at the request of John Hawke by Moses McFadden, a well-known surveyor from Perth County.

After donation, the map was re-backed and mounted using high-quality conservation supplies -  museum glass to protect the map from ultra-violet rays and remove all glare, and acid- free backing.

The original frame and hand-bevelled wooden backing board were maintained in their original condition.
