A
large number from here attended the funeral of Mr. [Tanner ], Rossburn, Man.,
who was buried at Hawkesville. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Sharpe. Mr. Tanner was well known in this locality. As
a local preacher he was often in Linwood. He went out west about four years ago.
His sad death has caused great sympathy for the bereaved family.

The
death of [John] Tanner, one of the oldest residents in the vicinity of
Hawkesville, occurred at his home near that place on Wednesday, Jan 2nd
at the ripe old age of 76 years. Death came after an illness of one week and
was due to hemorrhage of the kidneys. Wellesley Maple Leaf, January 31, 1901

The
sorrowful news of the death of Miss Alice Taylor reached here last week. Miss
Taylor resigned her position on the Wellesley school staff a year or so ago on
account of her failing health and Iater went to the Northwest where she died
two weeks ago after a very short illness. She was a highly educated and
accomplished young lady and an expert violinist whose untimely end leaves many
mourning friends in Wellesley.

took place on May 27th. He leaves behind him a wife and family to mourn his
